Finally, The Question For The Answer!

Published by John under Easy Listening. Popularity: -0%

Everyone knows what the answer is. Everyone who is anyone, anyway. Everyone who knows anything knows the answer.

The answer to the ultimate question of the universe.

The answer to life, the universe and everything

It is, of course, 42.

The super computer called Deep Thought told us as much. The ultimate answer is 42.

But what is the question? The white mice didn’t know this. So they asked. Deep Thought couldn’t tell them, but it helped them design another computer, the greatest computer ever developed. That computer, Deep Thought said, could tell them what the question was.

That computer, as anyone who knows anything about anything will tell you, was Earth.

Of course, the historical documents deviate from reality a bit on the rest of the story. They had to. Reality hadn’t happend yet.

But it happened now. Positively Glorious! is bring reality back!

Because here, on this super-computer called Earth, we now have The Question!

No longer will you have to consume yourself with worries about what 42 means. No longer will you have to read crazy stories about binary representations or Tibetian monks. You are now given the answer… or at least the question to the answer!

The ultimate answer to life, the universe and everything is 42.

The ultimate question about life, the universe and everything is…

(wait for it…)

How long will John take to write his next blog post?

Yup. That’s it. That’s the ultimate question. There you are. Reality. It’s been 42 days. There you have it.

What? You were expecting, perhaps, a rubber biscuit?1

  1.  Of course, Douglas Adams himself tried to convince us all that it was just a joke, but now you know the real truth– nice try, Doug. []

John Metta

Greetings! I’m John Metta, writer, hydrologist, programmer, and a digger of all things tech nestled snugly in the Columbia River Gorge (i.e. Heaven). This blog started as a test bed for programming social media apps, but eventually became something that, for whatever reason, people actually read. In fact, people read it so much that I had to create a whole other blog called Mettaprogramming for the geeky stuff I write. Feel free to email me at or contact me on Twitter @mettadore.

A Glorious Day!
