Thanks Michele. I’m really confused as to why multiple providers would flag Oregon laws preventing riders as the reason to refuse coverage, but I’m now investigating further. And thanks for the info on the high risk pool. I was not aware of that.

I think that you may have some of your facts incorrect. There is no law in Oregon saying that insurance companies can’t deny for pre-existing conditions. The insurance companies can decide not to insure you because of a condition or they can deny that condition for a certain amount of time.

This is exactly the same reason why I stopped taking pictures. I felt like I was living my life through the lens of a camera, always considering the shot instead of just experiencing and enjoying my life.

Thanks for sharing. I’ve been thinking about leaving Facebook for a variety of my own reasons and I’ve enjoyed reading your last couple of posts about it. I think I need to wander through my “friends” list; I know there are some folks whom I only connect with online via Facebook and I need to figure out how to best stay in touch with those folks. And realistically, there’s probably some folks that I’d be better off *not* staying in touch with.

We miss your posts…funny, fun, informative, bold, silly, and/or thought-provoking. I completely understand your reasoning; you should not have to justify why you would delete anyone (even if you had to delete me). I use fb because it is difficult to get together w/ a lot of my favorite people (usually for health reasons, distance, and sometimes familial obligations).

I am insulted and enraged because I wasn’t your friend on facebook and didn’t have the opportunity to be insulted and enraged when you “deleted” your account.

I am with you. I am up to 53 friends and that feels like a lot considering only 10 or so are family and there are only 20 or so people I purposefully see regularly.

I totally applaud your decision and agree with your reasoning, altho I will most likely continue to use it. Perhaps I just don’t give as much of a fuck if someone has issues with whether or not I friend them, or decide to unfriend them? I only have so much bandwidth, and I try to keep it meaningful to me.

I treasure and appreciate face to face *engagement* far more highly than anything on facebook. Or twitter, for that matter.

Miss you and would love to see you again soon – and that thought crossed my mind when you were still on fb
